I don't like to use the kit provided navigation lights, and usually go with a rather difficult route to make replacements. I usually scratch build each navigation light one after the other from some tinted clear plastic using careful sanding. This is a tedious process, but there's a faster alternative.
This is a simple photo etched copper sheet, with circle and two types of ellipse patterns: one with pointy and one with rounded end. These 3 type of patterns are available in three sizes on the copper sheet: 1; 0,75; 0,66 and 0,5 mm widths suitable to make 1:72, 1:48 or 1:32 scale navigation lights.
